Pics from the Community BBQ
After the Montara City Garage Sale, dozens of Montarans gathered in the Montara Post Office parking lot to enjoy tasty treats, play games, and meet new people in the local community. Check out some pictures from the event!
Montara City Garage Sale a Big Hit
Twenty-six different garage sales participated in our event on Saturday, July 12. People even began coming into Caffé Lucca several days in advance asking for maps! In all, we distributed around 175 maps and the garage sales around town donated $820 of their earnings to three humanitarian charities. Thanks everyone for participating!
"Egg" Hunt Food Drive: Tons of Food
Who were the big winners of the city-wide hunt? Needy coastsiders! Scores of families collected well over 200 bags of donated food for Coastside Hope, an organization that serves the needy on the coast. Violeta, who works for Coastside Hope, told us: "Our pantry was looking a little bare. Usually we have half the warehouse full of food, but because of the weather and layoffs, we have been giving out more food than usual! This will really help!" By our estimates, Montara donated 1.5 tons of food. That's right, tons! Thank you, Montara, for your generosity and compassion. Be sure to see the photos of the food drive!

Coastside Students Help Ugandan Kids
With
your support the Montara Youth
Project Uganda students raised around $3200 for Ugandan
kids during the summer of 2007! The change, checks, and bills alone totaled almost
$1900. The money went to Invisible
Children, helping put displaced kids into school. You can see a few pictures from the events in
our media gallery.
Displace
Me: Taking a Stand for Justice
Sixteen
students gathered to sleep overnight in the Montara Post Office
parking lot on July 21, 2007, taking
a stand for
the over 1.5 million Ugandans who have endured tragic conditions
within displacement
camps for over
20 years. The night was rainy and our cardboard houses fell to
pieces, but all the students hung in for a great
cause! Check out our media gallery and other coverage of
the event.
